Working with Us
When working with Skip Rowland Photography, you’re not just hiring someone to take pictures: you’re partnering with a professional dedicated to understanding your event’s unique needs. My process ensures seamless coordination, exceptional results, and zero guesswork.
Client Onboarding First-Time Clients
We’ll start with a consultation—whether in person, virtual, or over the phone—to discuss your event, goals, expectations, and possibilities. This step gives clarity and sets the foundation for success.
Estimating
Every event is different and the scope of work involves more than simple start-and-end-times. I’ll guide you through a detailed estimating survey to assess factors such as planning, logistics, art direction, and deliverables. The goal is to be on the same page with no surprises.
Pre-Shoot Planning
I can provide expert guidance to help you identify the critical moments and imagery and visualize the end results. If you have examples from prior shoots, we can review them to determine what to eliminate and where to improve. Together, we’ll define your needs, including shot lists, timelines, and art direction.
Post-Production
We will do as much or as little of the heavy-lifting in the digital darkroom. Our work may include:
- Ingesting – moving images from camera memory card to computer
- Cataloging – naming and applying appropriate metadata
- Selecting – reviewing images and marking ones that meet the established image quality standards and deliverable expectations.
- Processing – making appropriate adjustments for color temperature and exposure; making appropriate crops and rotation adjustments.
Delivery
Unless contracted otherwise, delivery of print-ready high-resolution jpgs are made within 5 business days via email, FTP, or another secure delivery platform. The individual files meet the Associated Press standards of 300dpi, not to exceed 10MB.
Payment Policies
- Invoices are submitted within 30 days of the delivery, tailored to your organization’s needs, with clear timelines for payment.
- We accept credit cards for amounts up to $1000; for invoices exceeding $1000, we accept payment by ACH or check.
For Repeat Clients: This is much more streamlined. We can jump straight into planning based on our established rapport and prior work.
FAQs
How are shot lists developed?
I collaborate with clients to create detailed shot lists that align with the event’s goals. For clients unsure of their needs, I provide guidance and examples to ensure nothing is overlooked.
What happens if a critical shot is missed?
Realistically, while I cannot guarantee every shot on a list, my planning process minimizes the chance of missed shots. If unforeseen circumstances arise, I maintain clear communication during the event to adjust priorities as needed.
How do you handle expedited requests?
Expedited delivery options are available with transparent timelines and pricing. I aim to meet urgent needs without compromising quality.
What is your policy on inclusivity in photography?
I am committed to representing the diversity of your institution and ensuring that all individuals and groups are depicted respectfully and equitably in photos. The key word for us is organic: we do not pursue artificially composed images of diversity that can compromise the integrity of your organization’s messaging.
How do you ensure discretion when working with high-profile or academic audiences?
With years of experience in such settings, I adhere to strict professional standards, maintaining a low profile while capturing essential moments without disruption.
Can you accommodate last-minute changes or additions?
Flexibility is a cornerstone of my services. I adapt to changes as they arise, ensuring your needs are met even in dynamic situations.
